The SMC Barricade N Draft 11n 2.4GHz 300Mbps Wireless Cable/DSL Broadband Router(SMCWBR14N2) is the perfect all-in-one networking solution for connecting and sharing your high speed cable/xDSL internet connection. This platform independent multi-functional router combines a 4-port 10/100Mbps LAN switch with Automatic MDI-MDIX, a high speed wireless access point (AP) with speeds up to 300Mbps, NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Intelligent stream handling technology and User friendly Web-based management interface in one convenient device.
The built-in wireless AP is compliant with the next generation IEEE802.11n draft v1.0 specification while maintaining full backwards compatibility with the IEEE802.11b/g standards. This next generation
wireless networking standard utilizes advanced MIMO (Multiple-In, Multiple-Out) technology to deliver incredible speed & range. With wireless speeds up to 300Mbps - 5x the speed of 802.11g, the MCWBR14-N provides enough bandwidth to stream HD video, listen to digital music, play online games, transfer large files, make VoIP calls and surf the Internet simultaneously.
To further enhance your wireless experience Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) technology is included to provide quality-ofservice (QoS) by prioritizing and optimizing the handling of different applications. To secure your wireless connection and prevent unauthorized access the SMCWBR14-N supports the latest WPA/WPA2 wireless security standards. WEP 64-Bit and 128-Bit wireless encryption is also provided for securely connecting legacy devices which do not support the latest WPA/WPA2 standards.
The integrated NAT firewall with SPI provides protection from hackers and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks by analyzing individual data packets, to ensure that only authorized packets are allowed access to the network. To control network access, parents, or network administrators can block certain websites, limit web access based on time or dates, and/or block internet access for applications like P2P utilities or games.
StreamEngine® technology provides intelligent stream handling by automatically managing the flow of traffic going to the Internet, without the need for user configuration. As a result, real-time interactive traffic, such as gaming, VoIP, instant messaging and video conferencing, are automatically given the appropriate priority when other users and applications use the network. In addition, Intelligent Stream Handling minimizes the impact of large-packet, lower-priority traffic on latency-sensitive traffic and eliminates delays caused by DSL or cable modem connections. StreamEngine® technology effectively eliminates the lag and breakup problem in online gaming and other voice/video applications.
