The Uconnect allows you to Dial By Name and Announce Status.  So if you wanted to Skype your friend "Grant" from your Skype contact list (you don’t need to remember silly short codes like on other devices), you would simply press ** to tell the uConnect you want to make a Skype call.  Then, you press * and the unit will announce, "Please enter the name of the person you wish to Skype using your telephone keypad."  For "Grant" you would dial, 47268.  As soon as a match is found the unit announces "Grant – Status Online" and then dials. So even if you are sitting on the porch with your favorite cordless phone, you can  make and receive Skype calls as well as normal phone calls from your handset.  It also gives you full Skype feedback including status and voicemail. Quite unique!

 

If your phone has a Caller ID display, the Uconnect can generate and show your Skype Caller ID as well for incoming calls... so you know who’s calling on Skype before you answer. In addition, both standard and Skype calls are added to your call lists in your caller ID, so you can see your missed calls for both Skype and standard phone calls.
